Squash: Wigginton facing a major reshuffle

MANAGER Ian Tooms is threatening to ring the changes after IT Sports Wigginton lost 4-1 at Hallamshire in the Yorkshire Squash League premier division.

Wiggy, aiming to secure their place in the top flight following promotion last season, will be aiming to bounce back to form when they host Heaton on Wednesday, February 6.

England junior Chris Longman was edged out by Matt Pearson in a five-set thriller on his Wigginton debut.

Jon Duffield, playing up the order at number four, was two games down to Dan Lawrence before staging an amazing recovery to win 3-2.

Wiggy number three Ed Shannon won the first game of his match against Alex Cutts, but then lost the next three.

Josh Harris, recalled to the team, lost 3-1 to Mark Fuller, before Fuller’s brother Chris beat Wiggy’s Pete Bilson, who was forced to retire injured in the fourth set.

Wigginton are sixth in the premier division table, with city rivals Dunnington in third.
