York City answer Harrogate Town's pitch SOS

YORK City have come to the rescue of Harrogate Town by agreeing to host their Blue Square Bet North match with Workington, managed by former City right-back Darren Edmondson, a week on Tuesday.
Doncaster Rovers had originally agreed to stage the match with Harrogate’s Wetherby Road pitch currently unplayable but the Keepmoat Stadium is no longer available with City agreeing to the use of Bootham Crescent instead.
Another Harrogate game could also be switched to City’s ground later in February if their playing surface remains a problem.
Sophie Hicks, City’s communications and community director, said: “Harrogate Town contacted the club a couple of weeks ago enquiring about the use of Bootham Cresent and we met with them early this week to discuss possible dates.
“We have agreed to host a match for them on Tuesday, February 5, and are open to hosting another game towards the end of February if their pitch is still unplayable.
“We are pleased to help our neighbours Harrogate Town tackle their fixture backlog and hopefully they will get some good support from our fans and people in the York area when they play at Bootham Crescent.”
