Mark “Sharkey” Hartley took hold of The Yorkshire Masters Darts Open stage eight final from the very first leg as he struck games of 14, 17 and 18 to defeat Terry Temple (17, 18) 4-2 in the East Leeds Snooker Club stage final.

Earlier Temple (180 for 16, 17, 18) had looked unbeatable after beating Nigel Daniels (2 x 180s in 16 & 20 dart legs) 3-2 in the quarter-finals before including three 180s in legs of 14, 15, 21 with the first leg having seven perfect darts towards the elusive nine- darter, in his 3-0 semi-final win over Colin Hendry.

Hartley defeated Johnathan Crossland by the same margin in the other semi after a 3-0 success disposed of Sam Fordham in the quarter-finals.

The other two quarter-finals, which supplied the last names for the Grand Final line-up in York this Saturday, saw Hendry (180 for 16) beat Daz Layden 3-1 and Crossland win 3-2 against Layden (11 & 12).

Further 180s were scored by Steve Kemp (2), Chris Baker, Johnny Rylance, Nigel Worsford, Hendry and Temple.

There were also high checkouts completed by Daniels 110, Mark Latimer 120 and Crossland 133 with Sam Fordham taking out a bull finish.

The Grand Finals for the first YDP Yorkshire Master Darts title are this Saturday at Huntington Working Men’s Club in York.

The winner collects £1,000 and the runner-up £330.

Players are asked to register by 1pm for a 1.30pm start.
