York City Knights v Hunslet Hawks called off

YORK City Knights’ pre-season friendly at home to Hunslet Hawks on Sunday has been postponed.

The Huntington Stadium pitch is frozen solid and the forecast is for more freezing temperatures with little chance of a thaw in time for the 3pm kick off that day.

The club inspected the surface this afternoon and took an early decision to call the game off.

The Knights have one pre-season fixture remaining ahead of their Championship opener at Whitehaven on Sunday, February 3, and that is at home to partnership Super League club Hull FC next Sunday.

Must be warmer down at Bootham Crescent where the pitch for the Aldershot match is passed fit at 2.30pm today.
