James Tate, son of North Yorkshire trainer Tom, and carrying on the training tradition at Newmarket, can score with nap selection Tight Knit at Wolverhampton this afternoon.

Tate junior, a qualified vet, who previously worked in that capacity for Mark Johnston at Middleham, is now in his second full year training and is beginning to find his niche after a creditable 21 winners in 2012.

Tight Knit was successful on this course two starts ago and has since finished a close-up fourth here in handicap company.

There is probably a little bit more to come from the three-year-old, who runs in today’s £50 Free Bet At coral.co.uk Handicap. With Luke Morris in the saddle, he is selected to have the measure of the hat-trick seeking Gabrial The Boss.

Cool Sky promises to be hard to beat in the Best Racing Odds Guaranteed At bookmakers.co.uk Handicap.

The William Knight-trained gelding has been in rude health lately, rattling up a trio of wins since the middle of last month, two at Lingfield and one on this track. Knight has booked rising apprentice Robert Tart to partner Cool Sky which will effectively erase the 6lb penalty he is set to carry. He will be a tough nut to crack.

Mark Johnston saddles two in the Horse Racing Free Bets With bookmakers.co.uk Maiden Stakes and preference is for Ofcoursewecan, the mount of stable jockey Joe Fanning.

There was plainly plenty expected from Ofcoursewecan on his debut here last month, but he proved too green to do himself justice and finished out of the money after being backed down to 2-1 favourite.

Ofcoursewecan seeks to recover those losses this afternoon.

Johnston also sends out Moscow Circus, a newcomer, a rare ride for the stable for Danny Tudhope.

Also worth noting are Polar Kite (1.50), dropped back once again to claiming company, and Hazard Warning (2.20), who failed by only a whisker to come out on top on his latest visit to this venue. Tim Easterby’s sprinter is fancied to go one better.

Racing continues at Wolves tomorrow when David Nicholls can make his presence felt with Summerinthecity in the featured Casino At coral.co.uk Handicap.

The six-year-old, a newcomer to Nicholls’ Sessay yard, ran a fine race for his new handler when going down narrowly to Toga Tiger on this track last week. He should go well again, admittedly in a wide open sprint.

Liberty Ship, who returned to winning form at this venue recently, bids for a quick double in the opening coral.co.uk Handicap.

The eight-year-old got home narrowly but in determined style last week. A 6lb penalty may not prevent him from completing a quick double for Mark Buckley.

Tomorrow’s nap is awarded to Holy Angel in the Best Racing Odds With bookmakers.co.uk Handicap over six furlongs.

Tim Easterby’s four-year-old, a Beverley winner last summer, has finished second on this course and at Southwell on his last two starts.
