York IBC ‘B’ won their second game of the season in the Yorkshire Over-55s League second division after they beat North Cave Maroon 90-58 and picking up 16 points to move into fourth place.
The away leg was played first and saw good performances from both rinks.
Ron Munro’s team started steadily to lead 9-1 after only four ends. They then lost only one of the last six ends to go from 12-11 ahead to win 22-12.
Bob Blackburn’s team looked to be on the wrong end of a deficit as they trailed 17-6 with eight ends to play. But they rallied and helped to secure the away aggregate points after they only lost by a 20-18 margin.
At home, late alterations gave John Birch his debut as skip and John Richardson at lead, though a poor start saw them trail 7-2.
However, within three ends they had levelled at 7-7 before surging clear by seizing seven of the last eight to finish with an excellent 25-11 victory.
Alan Clapham also picked up his first win as a skip in the league when his team turned a 14-10 deficit after 14 ends into a 25-15 triumph.
League leaders New Earswick play second-placed Selby, home and away, next Thursday starting at 12.30pm.
