Former York City ’keeper Harold Searson dies

FORMER York City ’keeper Harold Searson has died at the age of 88.
Searson, who had been suffering from cancer, played 63 games between the sticks for the Minstermen between 1952 and 1954.
He joined City from Leeds United, where he made more than 100 appearances and played a key role in the club’s run to the 1949 FA Cup quarter-finals.
After returning from wartime service in India, the Mansfield-born shot- stopper turned professional with Sheffield Wednesday.
He also played for his home-town club after moving on from the Owls and left Bootham Crescent for Corby.
