LEEDS United’s bid to bolster their squad in the current transfer window has received a boost.

Central defender Alan Tate has had his loan stint from Premier League Swansea extended to January 26 – and that could afford wriggle-room for Leeds to arrange a possible longer-term deal.

Since coming to Leeds, Tate, who has been granted permission to play in Saturday’s FA Cup tie at home to Birmingham, has figured in nine games for manager Neil Warnock’s men.

Said Warnock: “We’ve extended his loan and that gives us some breathing space.”
