Possible attacking wide role for Lanre Oyebanjo

LANRE OYEBANJO could be poised for a stint as an attacking wide player for York City after impressing on the flank against Fleetwood Town.

Oyebanjo has previously played at right-back, as a midfielder and in the centre of defence, and the former Histon defender patrolled the right flank as a 70th-minute replacement for Alex Rodman.

Mills said: “Lanre is direct and, when we saw Matty Blair was getting a bit of joy down the right at Fleetwood, we knew Lanre could do exactly the same.

“He’s got pace and when he gets going he’s very difficult to stop. He also gets in good positions.

“He made runs inside the centre-halves a few times but the passes were not quite good enough to play him in. He’s a strong player and he’s an option for me up there because his set-piece deliveries are always good as well.”

Big fan of Lanre. Thought he was immense in the Play-Off final and probably didn't get the recognition he deserved for those 2 last ditch blocks that were just as important as our 2 goals!

Good to see him play wherever he gets the opportunity.
