HEAVY downpours once again washed out the majority of non-League football fixtures involving North Yorkshire clubs.

Tadcaster Albion’s home clash with Glasshoughton Welfare was postponed due to a waterlogged Ings Lane pitch, and Pickering Town’s trip to Winterton went the same way.

The Brewers’ game has been rearranged for Tuesday, February 5, with the Pikes travelling to Winterton the following night.

Former Pickering and Tadcaster striker Carl Stewart netted a hat-trick as Bridlington Town beat Parkgate 4-1 to close to within a point of leaders Scarborough Athletic.

Stewart took his tally for the season to 24 and Scott Phillips also got on the scoresheet from the penalty spot for the hosts.

Scarborough were thwarted by the weather when their game at Maltby Main was called off at 1.15pm. The game will now be played on Wednesday, February 6.

Selby Town’s Flaxley Road ground was also unfit to host their rearranged division game with Pontefract Collieries, leaving the Robins without a fixture since Saturday, December 1. The game has been rescheduled for February 5.

One of only three division one games to go ahead saw Knaresborough Town beat visitors Dinnington Town 1-0.

Steve Bromley’s 63rd minute goal moved Knaresborough into joint-third position, five points behind leaders Athersley Recreation.

Harrogate Town’s game at home to Droylsden in Blue Square Bet North was postponed, and they will be hoping to get back on the pitch at Workington tomorrow (3pm).

All but three of the scheduled games in Evo-Stik League division one north were off, including Harrogate Railway Athletic’s trip to Ossett Town.

Railway, currently in 16th place, are due to host fifth-placed Farsley tomorrow (3pm).

In one of the four premier division games to go ahead, former York City striker Craig Farrell netted a fifth minute opener in Whitby Town’s 3-2 win at Chorley.

• Former York City junior Curtis Woodhouse has quit as Sheffield manager to concentrate on his professional boxing career.

The ex-Sheffield United, Hull and Harrogate Town midfielder stepped down as boss of the Evo-Stik League division one south club before Saturday’s home game against Gresley, which was postponed.

The Driffield-based light welterweight fighter has won 17 and lost four of his 21 pro bouts.
