Leeds-BASED Dave ‘The Rhino’ Smith charged to an emphatic victory in stage seven of The Yorkshire Masters Darts Open in Castleford.

He beat Martin Chappell (Harrogate) 4-0 which included legs of 21, 17 and 20 darts. Smith (21-17) had beaten Lincolnshire’s Jamie Ellam (16) 3-2 in the semi-finals.

Chappell, meanwhile, eliminated Ferrybridge’s Wayne Woodhouse 3-2 in the other semi-final. And he included a 180 score and 17-dart leg in defeating Barnsley’s Craig Barratt (180 and 177 score followed by 102 finish for 12 and 17-dart leg) by the same score.

Other fast legs were thrown by Chappell (12), Tom Sykes and Barratt (14), Woodhouse and Harvey Rodgers (15) and Josh Clough 16.

180s were also notched by Rodgers, Barratt, Sykes and Chappell, who also included a 121 finish.

The Blind Pairs was won by Wayne Woodhouse and Johnathan Crossland (17 and 19-dart legs) defeating Ceri Thomas and Clough (17) 2-1 in the best of three-leg final. Simon Rimington included a 118 finish in his pairs.

The next and last qualifying stage is on Saturday, January 12, at East Leeds Snooker Club in Leeds. Registration closes at 12.30pm for a 1pm start.
