TWO victories in five days took York to the top of the Yorkshire Over-55s League first division.
They seized 16 points from their 113-70 win over Thornaby.
At home, Graham Brooke’s team won all but four ends, capping their display with a maximum eight on the 20th end en route to a 48-4 success.
Graham Instone’s side lost 32-17 but still built a cushion for the away leg. In Thornaby, both York rinks got off to good starts. Malcolm Thompson’s went 13-0 ahead after seven ends to underpin a 26-18 victory, while Geoff Walker’s rink – 16-6 up after 13 ends – held off a rally to pull clear and triumph 22-16.
York ‘A’ next play North Cave White on January 9 and 11.
