YORK Indoor Bowls Club ‘A’ are unbeaten in Yorkshire Over-55s League division one after a 99-61 win over Hornsea earned them a valuable 16 points The away rinks were in excellent form with the team led by Graham Instone leading from the start in a comfortable 30-10 victory.
Geoff Walker’s side were 14-8 down after nine ends before making a great comeback to lead 20-16 five ends later en route to a 25-19 success.
At home, Phillip Parsons’ rink had a good start, leading 9-2 after five ends.
By the 13th the score had been pulled back to 14-10 before the home side finished by winning all but one of the remaining ends to triumph 24-11.
Malcolm Thompson’s team led 8-2 after four ends, then went 11-10 down by the 11th end before rallying with four winning ends to lead 18-11.
A dropped five, three and single put them back in arrears, but they went into the last end tied at 20-20 – only to drop a single and lose by one shot.
On Monday, York ‘B’ will be looking to pick up their first division two win of the season against Featherstone ‘B’.
