HEWORTH consolidated their lead in the York Conservative Clubs’ Slater Cup Snooker Pairs League after defeating nearest rivals Acomb 5-2.
George Rawling and Mike Bowker levelled after Heworth’s Roy Walker and Simon Whiteley opened the scoring.
Heworth then sealed the win by taking the next three frames, capped by a 49-point victory from Peter Hodgson and Joe Bedford.
Acomb’s B and D Hough took the last frame, but Heworth pocketed the aggregate for a 5-2 success and a ten-point lead.
Fulford’s 5-2 win over Bootham was only their second success of the season and enabled them to leapfrog their rivals from bottom place.
Dave Brown and Phil Cooke opened with a 42-point triumph and Fulford gained the next three frames.
The run was halted by Norman Shipley and Ken Clifford with a three-point win before the axis of Matt Dawson and Jamie Robinson earned Bootham’s second point.
Fulford are level with second-placed Acomb with new anchor club Bootham a further two points shy.
