CONEYSTHORPE ‘A’ were pushed all the way by Coneysthorpe ‘B’ in division one of the Northern Powergrid York and District Table Tennis League.
The table-topping ‘A’ team eventually came through 6-4 thanks to a maximum haul from Martin Lowe.
In another in-house contest RI ‘B’ upset RI ‘A’ 6-4.
University ‘A’ are having a difficult season, John Wooldridge guiding Bootham ‘A’ to a 7-3 success, while a depleted student side went down 8-2 at Coneysthorpe ‘B’.
In division two, Ady McClaren was unbeaten but his Bootham ‘B’ outfit were still edged out by RI ‘E’.
Lewis McCarthy picked up his first win of the season for RI ‘F’, but Jonathan Chabry was unbeaten as RI ‘D’ won a close contest.
Bob Young, who tops the averages, was in fine form as Holgate ‘C’ overcame RI ‘H’ 7-3 in division three, while Holgate ‘D’ had Steve Wands to thank in a narrow success over BT ‘B’.
Matt Roberts won his three singles but was unable to prevent a depleted RI ‘G’ going down 7-3 to Bootham ‘F’.
In division four, Thorntonle- Clay dismissed a weakened RI ‘J’ 9-1, while Dom McHugh was the star as Trustmarque overcame Bootham ‘G’ 7-3.
Terry Ruane was unbeaten as Aviva ‘B’ overcame RI ‘I’ 6-4, while Nigel Baker enjoyed an undefeated night in Shepherds ‘E’s 6-4 win over Holgate ‘E’.
