NEW Selby Town manager Ian Dring reckons his side will rise from the doldrums after his wheeling and dealing in the transfer market – though they might have to wait a week to begin their climb.

Dring has signed half a dozen players for the Northern Counties East League division one stragglers, including son Ben from Armthorpe, Sean Greaves from Maltby, Parkgate’s Benjamin Scott, and Marcin Wolski.

Other newcomers were poised to feature in tomorrow’s visit of Bottesford but that game is unlikely to go ahead due to a frozen pitch plus the recent damage to facilities by vandals. They will otherwise be unveiled next week.

He said: “We don’t want the game to be off, after last Saturday (a 2-1 loss at leaders Athersley in Dring’s first game in charge) when we played really well.

“I’ve signed six or seven players and once we get a striker in we will be turning things round, playing good football with a physical, good strong side.

“Financially it’s not easy but I know a lot of players.”

Knaresborough Town, sixth in division one, seek a first win in three games at Worsborough Bridge.
