SHAUN MURPHY is hoping his stay in York will extend until the end of the week.
The ‘Magician’ meets Graeme Dott in the second round of the williamhill.com UK Championship this evening yearning to repeat his victory in Telford in 2008.
“York is a great place to come to anyway,” said Murphy, who beat Robert Milkins 6-3 in round one. “I’ve spent a lot of time here personally but to come here for the second biggest tournament, a tournament that I have won before, is great.
“I hope to be here for the week.”
On Dott, he added: “I think, of the last half a dozen years, he has got one of the best records at the worlds.
“This tournament is very similar to that and he’s a great player.
“He’s a great competitor, he won’t give in, he’ll try 100 per cent all day long and I’ll probably have to scrape him off the table but I will try my best.”
