FIVE Lions player Muriel Britton hit a 180 – but it came too late in an 8-3 defeat by Cueball ‘B’ in division one of the York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League.

Lynne Clapham, Sue Turpin, Bev Harton, Natalie Farmeary and Denny Tichener had already secured victory for Cueball before Britton replied with her maximum.

Lions then won the next two pairs before Harton and Clapham added to the snooker club’s tally.

Leaders Walnut Tree were felled as Tramways pairing Sue Lowery and Judy Hall secured victory by the meanest of margins, after club colleague Lynda Kennelly had closed 64.

Flag won their first match of the season, taking home an 8-3 success from Burnholme after racing into a 4-0 advantage.

Lynne Willstrop pulled one back before Jane Dobson sealed the result.

Magnet had victory secured within the singles against Cueball ‘A’s.

Tracey Watkinson sealed the win, while Sharon Rishworth was Cueball’s lone individual success.

The snooker club won the remaining games with Faye Hawksby and Chris Hayward excelling to go down by the smallest of margins.

With close rivals Bootham Club having a free week, Edinburgh leaped to the top of division two.

They recovered from a 4-2 deficit at Turpin with a total clearance in the pairs, Julie Stables and Jan Netherwood snatching victory.

Acomb ‘B’ also left it late as they recovered from the same position at Severus ‘B’, whose Dot Sellars starred.

Amanda Harris and Debbie Pollard secured match points for Acomb.

Joan Woods and Linda Embleton combined to secure victory for Burton against visitors Severus ‘A’.

Clifton got their first win of the season at Acomb ‘A’, winning all the pairs to go home with a 9-2 result.

Division three leaders Jubilee had Brenda Dawe starring with scores of 120 and 115 as they toppled Sun 8-3.

Charlotte Scott hit the tons in her singles win as Shoulder ‘B’ were tied 3-3 with visitors Woolpack entering the pairs.

’Pack took the advantage through Kath Powell and Chris Patterson, but Katie James and Hayley Riley levelled then Scott and Hayley Luck sealed match points.

Leeman put in a solid performance to leave Shepherd ‘B’ with a fine 8-3 result by winning all the pairs.
