HOT-SHOT Judd Trump will open his defence of the williamhill.com UK Snooker Championship against qualifier Mark Joyce at the York Barbican.

World number 50 Joyce beat Andy Hicks and Jamie Cope in the qualifiers in Sheffield last week to make the main event, where he will face world number one Trump on Sunday at 2pm.

Deposed rankings leader Mark Selby is up against Michael White, while 2010 champion John Higgins takes on Michael Holt.

Six-time champion Steve Davis, the highest profile qualifier, has a date with world number 15 Ali Carter on Sunday afternoon.

Belgian teenager Luca Brecel’s run through qualifying is rewarded with a crack at Ricky Walden, a surprise semi-finalist in York last year.

Fellow rising star Jack Lisowski has been drawn against Stuart Bingham in round one, while 2011 runner-up Mark Allen is paired with experienced qualifier Marco Fu.
