YORK RI RUFC maintained their improvement in Yorkshire Three as they were beaten 27-15 at home by Leeds Medics and Dentists.

The pace of the students told in the opening exchanges at New Lane as the visitors went 17-0 up after 11 minutes.

The home forwards then took control and Dale Baker crashed over for an unconverted try, but the Meds scored another try before the break to lead 22-5.

Ten minutes into the second period, RI scrum-half Josh Bradley went in under the posts for Baptiste Brui to add the extras.

Brui added a further penalty to give RI a chance at 22-15 and it took resolute defence to keep RI at bay. As RI pressed, an interception by the away side sealed the game.

Frazer Land never stopped trying in the RI cause.
