A DARING unbeaten run was ended to dent the FA Trophy preparations of cup specialists Harrogate Town.

The Wetherby Roaders, who head south-east to fellow Blue Square Bet North rivals Gainsborough Trinity in the opening round of the FA Trophy tomorrow, lost their 11-match undefeated sequence when they fell 1-0 to hosts Stalybridge Celtic in midweek.

Town boss Simon Weaver will be hoping his men can get back to this season’s imperious cup form which has earned a place in the second round of the FA Cup at home to Hastings United – the lowest-ranked team still left in the much-cherished competition.

That tie at Wetherby Road on Saturday, December 1 will now kick off at 1pm, brought forward two hours to accommodate a special feature during ITV’s FA Cup coverage later that night.

Harrogate Railway Athletic tomorrow host Wakefield with both teams separated in the Evo-Stik League division one north only by goal difference, each mustering a mere 14 points so far.

The Rail have only won two games at home, doubling that tally away from their Station View base. But Wakefield too have won four games on the road, so a tight tussle is expected.
