Darts: Sure-shot Shelagh underpins Cueball win

SHELAGH Kenny was inspirational as she closed 94 for a 23-dart opening leg as Cueball ‘A’ shot into a 4-0 lead against York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League division one rivals Slipper, whose Elaine Metcalfe broke their duck.

However, Sharon Rishworth sealed victory for the snooker club side.

Diane Moreland and Sandra Winters combined to give Walnut Tree a 4-3 advantage with a 22-dart pairs leg at Burnholme.

Colleagues Clair Cooper and Pat Cairns secured victory by the nearest of margins.

Tramways’ Carole Layne with a 24-dart leg led them to a 6-3 win against visitors Lions whose Jill Reed and Michelle Britton hit the tons.

Cueball ‘B’ captain Tracey Farmeary hit a maximum as they raced into a 4-0 lead.

In division two, leaders Bootham Club kept their noses in front having a perfect six in the singles before Acomb ‘A’ found their range – Sara Rankeillor and Lisa Gatenby, then Kate Rankeillor and Rose Gray snatching two points.

Sue Richardson, Davina Shannon put Severus ‘A’ 2-0 up at Edinburgh, whose captain Chris Lamb set off a six-game match-winning run before Richardson and Carol Robson replied.

Burton WMC had Jacquie Woods leading the way with a two-dart 53 close as they took home match points from Acomb ‘B’.

Mags Formstone and Michelle Kelly combined to secure victory for Severus ‘B’ by the meanest margin over visitors Turpin whose Katie Barton and Alison King hit high scores.

Division three front runners Jubilee had Heather Bulmer and Angela Lancaster hitting double tons as they won the first three games before Vicky McClaren, Doreen England and Kath Powell pulled Woolpack level. However Jubilee cleaned up in the pairs to win 6-3.

Shoulder ‘A’ had victory secured within the singles as Anne Allinson was the lone success for Shepherd ‘A’.
