A 3-1 win at Netherwood Bradford I kept Acomb Hockey Club ladies I in the promotion frame in Yorkshire League division three.

The Tangerines totally dominated a scrappy first half but were denied by the home ’keeper until the 25th minute, when Sally Fairweather was unmarked in the circle and slammed home a fierce drive.

After the turnround, Acomb kept pressing forward with player of the match Kerry Woods going on some weaving runs to mesmerise the home defence.

Vicky Wrigley continued her fine form with some great runs down the right flank and Caroline Beavers found her attacking prowess in support of the forward line.

Wendy Watson fired in the second goal early in the second half, although the Tangerines were kept on their toes when the home side pulled a goal back in scrappy circumstances.

Sally Fairweather secured the three points to keep Acomb within a point of the leaders as her shot deflected off a home defender.
