AS the clock ticks down to the end of the European Tour season, York’s Simon Dyson is hanging on to try to secure a final flourish.
Dyson, whose year of enforced absences through injuries to his pelvis and wrist, has just the Hong Kong Open currently being played and then the final event in two week’s time, the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, to seal his yen to return to the world’s top 50 players.
After two rounds of the Hong Kong Open at the Fanling course, world number 65 Dyson is tied for 20th after following his two-under-par opening 68 with a steady level-par 70.
He started with a bogey on the first but blasted back with consecutive birdies on the 15th and 16th holes before dropping a shot on the last.
Going into today’s third round he is seven shots adrift of major winner Michael Campbell.
