THE Tyke Petroleum Men’s Tennis League featured eight teams collecting honours, including the new division eight trophy, donated by league sponsor Derek Boorman.

Poppleton were crowned men’s league champions for the third year running, while Harlow hoisted their third trophy in successive seasons when gaining the division five accolade. Hosts Wigginton also lifted three trophies – Boorman presenting the division two, four and seven trophies.

Before the trophy-fest, the annual general meeting voted for a 20-mile limiting radius on membership, after welcoming two new teams – Bishopthorpe 3rds and Heworth 2nds. The league will comprise a record 64 teams for 2013.

The 12-point per match scoring, was formally adopted after its trial this year and the eight divisions are tio be split into a four-level pyramid.
