CITY of York ladies first team were undone 5-2 by a youthful Sheffield Hallam first team in the North League premier division.
After York defended a few penalty corners, Sheffield finally found a way through and, as York repeatedly lost possession, Sheffield notched another two goals.
Early in the second half, York cut the deficit when Carlena Barber played the ball into player-of-the-match Emily Thorpe to score.
York applied more pressure but Sheffield pulled away for two more goals before a penalty corner rapped home by Beth Sanderson.
For York, goalkeeper Michelle Powell excelled with several superb saves.
