THE leading sides in the Northern Counties East League premier division are in the sights of Tadcaster Albion after they toppled high-flying Worksop Parramore.

The sixth-placed Brewers were 2-1 winners at Ings Lane, with goals from Ryan Qualter and Tom Owen dropping Worksop down to fourth place.

Qualter scored on 11 minutes and Owen doubled the lead on 70 minutes, with Simon Mirfin pulling a goal back five minutes from time.

Albion travel to Brighouse Town in round two of the League Cup on Tuesday (7.45pm).

A 90th-minute goal from Joel Ramm earned Pickering Town a point from their trip to Nostell Miners Welfare. Graham Marchant had given the home side the lead in the tenth minute.

The Pikes are at Thackley on Tuesday (7.45pm) in the League Cup second round.

Third-placed Scarborough Athletic were pegged back by Brighouse Town in a 3-3 draw.

Tony Hackworth scored on 22 minutes to cancel out Danny Nadiole’s seventh minute opener for Town.

Tom Matthews edged Brighouse ahead on 30 minutes, but Athletic were level at the break thanks to Ryan Blott’s 39th-minute goal.

Ben Charlesworth’s own goal put Scarborough in front for the first time, but Matthews struck again to ensure a share of the spoils.

Scarborough go to Liversedge on Tuesday (7.45pm) in the League Cup.

Basement side Selby Town lost 2-1 at home to Grimsby Borough in division one.

Josh O’Neill netted for the Robins on 78 minutes, but Borough won the game in the first half with strikes from Steve Davies and Andrew Taylor.

A visit to Emley is the next assignment for Selby on Tuesday (7.45pm).

Knaresborough Town, riding high in fifth place, were 1-0 winners at Shirebrook Town.

On-loan York City midfielder Tom Platt scored twice for Harrogate Town as they knocked Vauxhall Motors out of the FA Trophy.

Following on from their FA Cup first round win over Torquay, the Wetherby Roaders beat Motors 3-1 in the Trophy third qualifying round.

Paul Beesley’s sensational strike added to Platt’s double, while Vauxhall’s Leon Clowes was red-carded.

Harrogate Railway Athletic moved away from the Evo-Stik League division one north relegation zone with their first home win of the campaign.

Liam Hardy struck in the 52nd minute against Salford City and Daniel Hull’s 61st-minute goal sealed a first Station View win at the sixth attempt.

Railway travel to Sheffield in the preliminary round of the Doodson Sport Cup on Tuesday (7.45pm).
