THE effects of a punishing run of three games in seven days are being monitored by York City manager Gary Mills, writes Dave Flett.

The Minstermen, who drew 1-1 with Northampton on Tuesday, host AFC Wimbledon in npower League Two today and travel to London tomorrow ahead of Monday’s FA Cup first round replay against the Dons.

Mills admitted he could consider changes for Monday’s second match against the Dons if he spots any signs of fatigue.

“We will need to address the situation on Monday,” he said. “We will go down there tomorrow and everybody has to be physically and mentally right for two games in three days. “We might go with the same starting XI as we did on Tuesday for the next two games and players might get their rest with a couple of days off next week,” said Mills.

“But if we feel somebody is looking a bit tired, or they tell me they are, then we will look at that situation.”

Mills will be paying particular attention to Kerr in that respect with the former Lincoln City captain having only completed three full matches since returning to action last month.

“He’s still got to get sharper but he’s getting there,” Mills said about the 30-year-old midfielder.

“We’ve got a lot of games coming up and we’ve got to see how he goes.

“He will hate me for saying that because he wants to play every game, but we have to be sensible and you have to think about the team, not individuals.”
