Selby Town are in a “black hole” says club secretary Tommy Arkley, but he has called on the fans of the Flaxley Road outfit to rally round and help to steer the Robins out of their NCEL division one mess.

Their 3-2 loss at Teversal last weekend sunk them to the bottom of the table, with just nine points from 17 games played, and even a double strike from Louis Blackwell could not provide any real cheer.

Tomorrow, manager Phil Jones and his beleaguered squad host mid-table Grimsby Borough and Arkley admits that the short-term prospects for Selby look bleak.

“With some tough games ahead things look a bit bleak for the club but they will have to dig deep and try to put a run of results together before the gap becomes too large,” he said.

“This is the time where the fans need to help and give the lads some encouragement. We are all in it together.

“Let’s rally round and navigate out of this black hole.”
