Narrow loss ends undefeated start for York Ladies

York Ladies suffered their first defeat of the WARLA winter season losing 14-12 to Huddersfield Ladies in a tight encounter.

Huddersfield took the lead with an unconverted try before York responded midway through the half as a great flowing move down the left saw centre Teri Chu race over from 35 metres, stand-off Sam Boyes converting.

Huddersfield, though, crossed twice more to lead 14-6 at half-time.

York hit back eight minutes into the second half with Boyes darting and weaving over from close range, and adding the goal, to narrow the gap to two points.

York mounted pressure on the Huddersfield line but were unable to score a winner.

York’s player of the match was Boyes backed up well by half-back Katie Langan and hooker Natalie Hilton.
