A SEASON of success is being celebrated by Dunnington Bowls Club ladies.

The club won the Tuesday Evening League for the second consecutive year and they also triumphed in the Afternoon Country League.

Members also reached two of the three Yorkshire county inter-club competition finals, and were knockout out in the semi-finals of the other.

In the final of the Janet Harrow Trophy, they beat Swinton Bowls Club but Swinton turned the tables to win the Top Ten final.

Dunnington lost a tight semi-final against Borough Park Bowls Club in the Anne Wilkinson Trophy, going down by only one shot.

A total of six Dunnington ladies qualified for the final stages of National competitions.

Margaret Morgan, Sue Taylor, Melanie Brooke and Carol Instone represented the club in the fours, while Kath Pepper and Barbara Dawson qualified in the pairs.

Although they were unable to make any further progress in the Nationals, the two teams were victorious on Yorkshire county finals day.

In a repeat of their 2010 trophy double, the fours beat Shipton Bowls Club and the pairs toppled Hull-based Kingston Bowls Club.

• THE York Club and Institute Union (CIU) Bowls League will hold their annual general meeting at the Railway Institute Bowls Club in Ashton Lane on Tuesday, November 6, at 7.30pm.

Clubs should ensure they are represented at the meeting, which will be followed by the presentation of trophies and awards.
