York City waiting on scan result for injured Michael Coulson

YORK City are still awaiting confirmation of the seriousness of the injury suffered by attacker Michael Coulson.

The 24-year-old, who is second only to Ashley Chambers this season with five goals in the City scoring charts, was hauled off on a stretcher during the win at Accrington Stanley a week ago when he suffered ligament damage to his left knee.

City are already expecting the former Scarborough, Barnsley and Grimsby player to be out for at least the next six to eight weeks after an initial scan revealed damage to the cartilage and medial ligament.

But that absence could be as long as the rest of the season if worst fears of damage to his cruciate ligament are confirmed by a second scan. Coulson twice suffered serious injury to his knee while playing for Barnsley as a youngster.

Said City boss Gary Mills: “We’ve not yet had the results of the scan into how extensive the injury problem is.

“We’re hoping it’s not the cruciate, but we are still waiting the outcome of the second scan. However, we are aware that he already faces a long spell on the sidelines.”

Meanwhile, midfielder Michael Potts is still waiting to see whether another club will come in to take him on loan after he was circulated as being available by City.

“It’s no secret he is available. It’s similar to Lee Bullock who went out last week on loan to Gateshead for a month”, said the City leader.

“So far no one has come in for Pottsy.”
