Wigginton Grasshoppers play catch-up with 5-0 win

WIGGINTON Grasshoppers moved to within four points of premier division leaders Dunnington with an emphatic 5-0 win at Easingwold Town in the York Minster Engineering Football League.
Wiggy, who still have a game in hand on their rivals, took 55 minutes to break the deadlock, Lee McQuade hitting his 17th goal of the league campaign.
Within four minutes, Lee Stewart doubled the lead and further goals came from Kev Butler, with his tenth of the season, Jack Coates and a Tom Metcalfe penalty.
Copmanthorpe moved three places up the table to fifth after a 4-1 win at Rowntrees.
Robin Bedford scored twice in the first six minutes for Cop and took his tally to seven from his last three games when he completed his hat-trick.
Before the break, Cop ’keeper Ben Sheenan converted his second penalty of the season.
Dan Marshall pulled a goal back for Rowntrees midway through the second half.
Total Sports pushed their unbeaten run to five games in division one with a 3-1 win at Tockwith.
Tockwith led at the break, but Dan Palmer hit a corker of a goal to level before Darren Smith and Amos Laverack confirmed the win.
Amotherby, who have gone five home games without a win, lost 4-2 to visiting Wilberfoss.
John Dunning and Matty Webster were on target for Amotherby.
In the only division two fixture, Stamford Bridge lost 4-2 at home to Heslington.
Nick Rank and Harry Bryant were the Stamford scorers.
