Leeds United squad bolstered for Birmingham game
10:55am Friday 26th October 2012 in Sport
LEEDS United could welcome back injured pair Lee Peltier and Rodolph Austin for tomorrow’s npower Championship clash with Birmingham at Elland Road, writes Jamie Presland.
The duo, who are suffering from ankle injuries, will go for scans ahead of the visit of the Blues as United look to get back to winning ways after two consecutive draws.
Peltier was forced off in the second half of last Friday’s match with Sheffield Wednesday, with Austin aggravating an existing injury in the same game. Both missed Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Charlton.
United manager Neil Warnock said: “Rudy has had a scan.
“Pelts had one as well, but I don’t think there is anything too much wrong and he was feeling a bit better on Tuesday.”
Midfielder Michael Tonge could also be restored to the starting line-up as injury saw him drop to the bench against the Addicks on Tuesday.
Tonge injured his shoulder against Barnsley earlier this month, but played and scored against Wednesday last week.
Whites boss Warnock said: “We missed Tongey’s presence on Tuesday.
“He’s got some guts and would have played, but talking to the physio and seeing the agony he was in I didn’t think he could do both.”
Leeds will want to make up for Tuesday’s disappointment by beating a Blues side who haven’t won since September.
United’s David Norris said: “When you have two home games you expect to win one of them.
“If we win we might look at Tuesday as a good point, but we might also look at it as the kick up the backside we needed.”
