AFTER the collapse of a target to remain unbowed before their FA Vase clash with Billingham Synthonia, Pickering Town face a tough trip to second-placed Worksop Parramore tomorrow, writes Jamie Presland.

Manager Jimmy Reid’s wish to stay undefeated after a fourth consecutive win against Liversedge last Saturday ended in the midweek 1-0 loss to Barton Town Old Boys, Steve Norton scoring the only goal seven minutes after half-time.

The defeat leaves the Pikes 14th in the Northern Counties East League premier division table, but Reid feels his side were unlucky to lose.

He said: “We did enough in the game to get something and came close a few times, but they are a good, strong team.

“We have a similar game tomorrow on one of the best pitches in the league. If we perform the same way we can get a result.

“We have a full squad to pick from. Ged Dalton is back and Tom Clarke did very well on Wednesday so I’ll have to talk to the coaches and see.”

Elsewhere in the premier division, Tadcaster Albion will be looking to bounce back as they travel to Pickering’s conquerors Barton Town.

The Brewers lost for the first time in five games with a 1-0 home defeat to Lincoln Moorlands Railway on Tuesday, Kevin Lusamba netting the visitors’ winner.

Tadcaster boss Paul Marshall has no injury concerns but stressed the importance of rotating his squad during the busy fixture list.

Marshall said: “I changed the team a bit on Tuesday. We’ve played so many games that we had to rotate but it didn’t work. We need to keep the players as fresh as possible.

“We have got to bounce back – that’s what good teams do. It’s a tough game, Barton are one of the favourites for the league but I’m sure the lads will respond.”
