York Indoor Bowls Club ‘A’ team moved into the second round of the Mason Trophy after overcoming Scarborough.

The key to the success was the emphatic 38-14 victory from Melanie Brooke’s home rink, who won all but one of the first nine ends to lead 23-5.

Linda Harrison’s away team also excelled to counter from 14-7 down to trail 14-13 with two ends to play.

However, dropped singles on both led them to lose 16-13.

York ‘A’ will next play North Cave ‘B’, while for York ‘B’ it’s an encounter against Harrogate, both today, starting at 12.30pm.
