Mark Scoreby nets to widen gap held by Wigginton Grasshoppers

The reserve ‘A’ top-of-the-table York Minster Engineering Football League duel went in favour of leaders Wigginton who beat Copmanthorpe 1-0.

Player-manager Mark Scoreby scored the only goal ten minutes from time to open up an eight-point lead.

Easingwold extended their lead at the top of reserve ‘B’ after toppling Bishopthorpe 4-1.

Easingwold raced into a three-goal lead before the break through Andrew Metcalfe senior, Will Bell and Richard Durrant, before Metcalfe added a second after the break.

Despite Steve Cooper hitting four goals for second-placed Fulford at Amotherby, his side still lost as Matty Bean struck a hat-trick and George Everatt a brace for the hosts, who ended a run of three successive draws with a 5-4 victory.

Poppleton made it three reserve ‘C’ wins on the spin as a goal in each half – from Craig Suttle and Jack Chilton – secured a 2-0 win over Selby RSSC.

Reserve ‘D’ leaders Crayke struck four unanswered goals from Steve Johnstone, Oliver Everhard, Matty Bilham and Carl Slater against Bishop Wilton.
