New Earswick All Blacks on the up

New Earswick All Blacks ARLC moved up to fourth in the Pennine League Championship with a 30-22 win over Moorends Thorne Marauders.

Moorends took the lead with a converted try after seven minutes, but the All Blacks hit back to lead 18-6 at half-time.

Hooker Joe Davis powered over under the posts, winger Jack Law scored in the corner and half-back Liam Gargan crashed over. Tom Holmes kicked two conversions and a penalty.

Moorends scored three tries in the second half but New Earswick came out on top with tries by centre Adam Kirby and full-back Joe Stearman, both converted by Holmes.

Man of the match was Bobby Smith.

In division four, New Earswick ‘A’ were beaten 40-8 at home by Queensbury ‘A’. Andy Raynor and man of the match Lewis Smith were the All Blacks’ try scorers.

Selby Warriors crashed 50-4 at Greetland All Rounders in division three, while Selby ‘A’ had a 30-0 walkover win against Farnley Falcons ‘A’ in division seven.

• York Acorn hooker Lewis Lord scored a hat-trick of tries for Yorkshire Under-17s in a 38-14 win over Cumbria at Sharlston Rovers.
