The first brewery within the City walls for over 50 years, York Brewery offers a friendly atmosphere and award winning ales! Come in to our tap room on Toft Green and say the secret password “Guzzler” to get a discounted tour of just £5 with the added bonus of a free pint of York Brewery Ale! You will get a chance to learn about the history of the Brewery and the brewing process itself. Furthermore, ask for a receipt for your tour and get 10% off food (excluding meal deals) between 12 and 4pm at our pubs in town: The Last Drop Inn, The Yorkshire Terrier and The Three Legged Mare. Tours run daily at 12.30, 14.00, 15.30 and 17.00 and last 30-40 minutes; don’t forget to use the secret password “Guzzler” to enjoy all of the benefits!

At 20 Barrel capacity, York Brewery can produce 5760 pints(!) in one brew. In a week the brewery will do up to 8 of these, which gives an annual production of well over 2 million pints. Just one of these brews will take you the best part of four years to drink at a rate of four pints a day! Despite this seemingly large-scale operation, York Brewery is actually small in comparison to some of the larger beer-brands and has a policy of quality over quantity. At this scale it is easy to see the processes involved in making beer in a traditional, unmechanised way.

Having won several awards for its ales over the years, the Brewery has made a very good name for itself and its success continues with demand often outstripping supply capabilities! Though the tap-room (CAMRA club of the year 2009) is normally an exclusive members-only tap room, it opens during the day for everyone to enjoy tours and the general merriment that only a brewery could offer! There is also a gift shop with bottled ales, brew-kits, bags and all manner of gifts for friends and family.

If the brewery itself isn’t enough, then why not check out one of its pubs in town? The Three Legged Mare on High Petergate (York pub of the year 2009), The Yorkshire Terrier (also with gift shop) on Stonegate or the Last Drop Inn on Colliergate? Each of these pubs has a unique charm and setting in York so why not come on in and have a drink!
