Banks Music, one of the oldest shops in York and well-known throughout the UK, has a wide range of musical instruments of every type. Electric keyboards and digital pianos in a dedicated showroom, brass, woodwind and stringed instruments for the beginner and professional, York’s most comprehensive selection of classical, acoustic and electric guitars, amps, drumkits and everything for the rock musician!

We also have that rarity, a CD and DVD department that stocks more than today’s chart hits. We have a wide selection of classical CDs, also world music, contemporary folk, jazz, blues and country music, plus nostalgia collections, talking books and other spoken word CDs.

Banks is justly famous throughout the UK for its exceptional stock of sheet music of every kind. Whether your taste is baroque or heavy metal we will have the music you want to play! We are a resource for all local music teachers and our stock of brass band scores attracts musicians from all over the north of England. After all, we are in the heart of brass band country!
