WHAT a cracker! Brackenhill, the York marketing and communications company, hopes to raise a few giggles as well as groans from its clients this Christmas.

Instead of sending out Yuletide cards, it has distributed more than 100 Christmas crackers.

They contain seasonal one liners designed to crack em up - with the challenge: "Let's see you do better."

Clients were invited to send their own guffaw-worthy wisecracks as contributions to a special bellylaugh blog on Brackenhill's website at www.thebrackenhillgroup.com Contributor of the best rib-tickler will win a magnum of Champagne.

Andrew Forshaw, managing director of the firm, which is based at Woodhouse Grange, at Sutton-upon-Derwent, said: "It's been so successful so far that we're opening the competition to the general public so download your happy horse laughs now."

It's the way I tell 'em

SOME of the Brackenhill quips:How do you kill a circus?

Go for the juggler.

What do you get when you eat Christmas decorations?

Tinsellitis.

Did you hear about the two ships that collided at sea?

One was carrying red paint and the other was carrying blue paint. All the sailors ended up being marooned.

Patient: Doctor, Doctor when I press myself here it hurts, and here and here and here - what do you think it is?

Doctor: You have a broken finger.

Judge: Have you been up before me before?

Thief: I don't know, what time do you get up?

What's ET short for?

Because he's only got little legs.
