Wonders of Leavening

A HAT-TRICK of sporting successes is being celebrated at a Ryedale village school.

Leavening Community Primary School, near Malton, won the inaugural High Five netball tournament at Malton School, a mixed tag rugby competition at Malton & Norton RUFC and the Malton and Norton multi-skills festival for Year 1 and Year 2 pupils at Norton College.

Pupils from the school also finished second overall in a cross country event at Ampleforth College.

Head teacher Melanie Mellor said: "We are only a small school but the children are keen and willing. They have worked hard at their games and have now been rewarded with these successes.

"Their efforts have given a terrific lift to the whole school."
