A TOUCH of green glamour has been added to a York children’s nursery that is spreading the message about being kind to the environment.
The current Miss Earth – York beauty queen Caroline Duffy – has landed a job which could have been designed for her after joining the staff at the Little Green Rascals organic day nursery, based next to the York Maze site in Elvington, which opens its doors this week.
Caroline, from Burnholme, will put her green know-how to good use by helping youngsters grow their own fruit and vegetables in the nursery’s organic kitchen garden, as well as teaching movement to music.
“I’m passionate about the environment and eat freshly-prepared food and buy organic products whenever I can,” said Caroline.
“I love working with kids, so the opportunity to work in a place like Little Green Rascals, where care for the environment is part of the ethos, is an ideal job.
“What Little Green Rascals are doing is fantastic – having all the food freshly prepared on the premises, using organic cleaning products and getting kids involved in nature. Children are happiest when they’re outside – it’s just natural for them.”
