Review: Huge at the Ainsty
If this brief review of Huge’s gig at the Ainsty pub on Boroughbridge Road last night makes you think, “I wish I’d gone to that,” then don’t worry, because you can, as they are playing there again tonight!
Not so Big Ian (for he has shed pounds, but the voice is as soulful as ever) had the whole pub singing and dancing, with even the staff getting up on the bar at one stage to boogie.
Some of George Hall’s creative arrangements left plenty of room for some terrific sax and trumpet solos and they lived up to their own handle of The Ultimate Party Band.
Huge are literally too big a band for a normal pub venue, but the Ainsty is large enough to just gets away with playing host, so tonight is a great chance to see and hear them up close and personal.
And if you’re stuck for Christmas present ideas, then tickets for their January gigs at the Grand Opera House might just be the answer.
