Carey Simms, of Norman James Hair Studio in Kirkbymoorside, has won SAKS Education apprentice of the year national award. Carey, who lives in Helmsley, is a former pupil of Ryedale School and student at York College. Carey joined the Norman James Hair Studio as an apprentice 18 months ago and is is taking her qualifications through SAKS Education and training with the Kirkbymoorside salon’s proprietor, Gillian Ault. Gillian said: “I am thrilled and excited that Carey has done so well. It is well deserved. She's a shining example of how young, dedicated people can achieve what they want in life.”
