The floods of 1947 affected huge areas of York, causing widespread disruption. These photographs were all taken 65 years ago, as York residents struggled to cope with the waters.

  • Hetherton Street was badly affected by the floods of 1947 which reached a record level of 17' 1 The street was built in 1891 and was located at the current site of Marygate car park. The street was finally demolished in 1973
