Families across York and the region have been getting ready for the visit of Santa, by decking their houses out in style.

Decorations and dazzling lights are in strong supply, and our photographers have been out and about capturing some of the best.

Among those getting in on the act are Eileen and Brian Johnson, who give out mince pies and mulled win to passers-by.

Each year, they turn their garden into a Christmas wonderland full of lights and decorations, while Santa hands out presents to children.

The Johnsons are pictured here along with some of the other highlights from Rillington, Melbourne in East Yorkshire, and Tadcaster.
