TWENTY eviction warnings, six vehicles taken off the streets, two vehicles impounded, £360 of unpaid fines collected, nine graffiti hotspots cleaned up, 12 arrests and reports for summons and 18 search warrants executed.
Those are the impressive figures notched up in a 14-hour crime and antisocial behaviour blitz in Acomb and Holgate in York - codenamed Operation Clamber.
York Police worked with City of York Council, HM Revenue and Customs, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency and other agencies in a high-visibility crackdown on Thursday.
Operation Clamber was designed to bring together a range of crime-fighting agencies to target the issues that mattered most to local residents.
As well as the arrests, police officers delivered 1,150 crime prevention packs and offered advice to residents at a mobile police station.
Inspector Colin Moreton, who led the operation, told The Press he was "very pleased" with the results. He said: "It was a good day's work, but the most important thing was to be out there and be seen. A lot of people came up to speak to our officers, and that is a very good sign."
The Press was invited to join officers on a lightning raid on a flat linked with illegal drugs. The dramatic video footage is exclusively available on our website at www.yorkpress.co.uk.
Search warrants like it were executed across Acomb and Holgate throughout the day - resulting in further arrests and the recovery of stolen property and illegal drugs.
