AN escaped animal has caused delays for hundreds of commuters on the A64 this morning.

A bullock escaped from a paddock near to Grimston Bar and made its way onto the westbound carriageway, causing huge problems for drivers swerving to avoid hitting it.

The animal was eventually in collision at 9.55am with a vehicle and suffered minor injuries as a result.

Police closed the westbound carriageway and eventually shot the beast dead to protect the public. For dramatic pictures and full report see The Press tomorrow.

Cant believe the police shot it! Was there any need for that. Probably eating a nice juicy bit of steak for their tea!

Might have been for target practice: but there again, people who put their bins out too early are smaller and move faster than a bullock on a dual carriageway, and so would be rather more difficult to hit.

Joking aside, when I lived in Devon a minibus full of tourists hit a cow on the B-road across Dartmoor in fog. Three were killed and all the rest suffered injuries of varying severity. In this case the police did the right thing, shot it and got the road open again with minimal delay. At least they didn't close the road for eight hours while they carried out a health and safety risk assessment.

It's amazing, my comment about the useless journo's got deleted from my comment in the column the pic of Harold from Neighbours, but this militant uselss hack, can still keep spouting drivel about their poorly paid jobs! Get a proper one, and stop moaning!

On a lighter note, who has wanted to see the 'dramatic pictures'? It's amazing they have them when a bull is shot, but not when that poor kid in Hull got shot, or John Charles Menendez? Pigs shooting cows? whatever next?
