LABOUR councillors in York have joined the city’s snow warden scheme, to help tackle any heavy snow.
Heworth councillor Barbara Boyce said: “I hope more people will sign up so that we get as much snow warden coverage as possible across the city.”
The snow warden idea originated in Canada, and has now been emulated in York. Dozens of volunteers have been trained and given shovels, high-visibility vests, hats and gloves.
